Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh protest refoulement plans [Mizzima - 20/1/18]:

... "We want safe zones in Arakan (Rakhine) before repatriation," he told AFP by phone from Cox's Bazar, where the camps are located.

"We want a UN peacekeeping force in Arakan. We want fundamental rights and citizenship. We do not want repatriation without life guarantees," Mohibullah said. ...

Australian Aboriginal lore is replete with references to birds carrying fire, and some traditional ceremonies even depict the behaviour.

Now ornithologists have collected accounts from witnesses across the savannas of Australia’s far north, known as the Top End, suggesting three Australian birds of prey species use smouldering branches to spread fires and scare prey into their waiting talons. ... [Cosmos - 12/1/18]

The misery of Israel’s 38,000 African asylum seekers and the dubious ‘third country’ solution [Daily Maverick - 19/1/18]:

... Sadot says voluntary deportees have arrived in Rwanda or Uganda with no legal documentation – “no work permit, no status, nothing”.

Many are robbed of the $3,500 granted to them by the Israeli government or quickly trafficked out of the third countries to join the migration route through Libya to Europe.

“We can monitor only those people who survive. They tell us about their friends who died at sea, who drowned next to them.”

Like Awdalla, some say they were not sent to a third country at all, but to the very war zones they fled. ...

@davidsheen [18/1/18]: Israeli authors on deportation deadline just before Holocaust memorial day: “Our history as a people is turning over in the grave… stop the deportation of refugees to the hell from which they fled before it starts. Otherwise we’ll have no reason to exist” ...

Refugees in Israel - International Solidarity [19/1/18]:

...  The Israeli Immigration Authority began the deportation process, first targeting refugee detainees at 'Holot', Israel's refugee detention center, at an isolated desert location.

The Immigration Authority began to deliver an "Information sheet for an infiltrator leaving for a safe third country" to those who have already had a departure interview.

The two paged document is written in Hebrew, which obstructs refugees from fully understanding their deportation procedure and future "absorption" in the third country.

As we know from testimonials by those who have been deported to Rwanda and Uganda so far, these are hardly 'SAFE' states.

In the interview, refugees are presented with two only options: either consent to deportation to the unnamed 'THIRD STATE', or INDEFINITE CRIMINAL INCARCERATION at Saharonim Prison.

On the letter, the Israeli Immigration Authority threatens taking physical action and financial actions against those who do not comply ...

... The government’s determination to rid the country of the dwindling number of African refugees in the country (but hardly of the swelling ranks of migrants from the Ukraine and other beleaguered countries in Eastern Europe whose requests for asylum, unlike those of their African counterparts, are being processed with alacrity) has gathered steam in recent weeks, with the adoption of yet another amendment to the Law to “Prevent Infiltration and to Ensure the Exit of Infiltrators from Israel” barely a month ago. ... UNHCR endorses Australian Labor Party's failed proposal to traffick and exile refugees to Malaysia for slavery [ABC - 22/11/16]:

... MICHAEL BRISSENDEN: So a regional solution. One of the countries the Government is in talks with currently is Malaysia. Malaysia hasn't signed the UN Convention on Refugees. Would you be comfortable with any deal involving that country?

VOLKER TURK [UNHCR]: Well, Malaysia has had a tradition of hosting refugees.

It's true they haven't signed the convention, but there are a lot of opportunities, especially when it comes to access to the labour market, to ensure that one could negotiate a certain standard of treatment for people.

Obviously I am not privy to these negotiations. I've heard about it in the press.

There was a deal that was struck a couple of years ago and we thought that the deal was workable at the time. ...

And then he was transferred to Malaysia, where he pressures the government to accommodate refugees so Australia can maintain its pristine borders ---> ... RICHARD TOWLE [UNHCR Australia representative]: The key failing is that there are in place no legal frameworks for the processing of refugee claims.

If the sole purpose of transfer from Australia to Papua New Guinea was to process people, one would expect there'd be some kind of process in place for people when they get there.

These 221 people are being held in mandatory closed and indefinite detention, which is a very serious violation of international law. ... [ABC - 4/2/13]

... The representative for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Malaysia, Richard Towle, described the situation as a catch-22 for these children.

"If they're not in the workforce earning money, then they might be on the streets begging, where they're highly vulnerable. So it's a choice between a rock and a hard place," said Towle.

"If you're being asked to work in sweatshops, is that better than working on the streets and begging?" ... Rohingya refugees work at unlicensed bird's nest factory in Malaysia to make a living [Channel News Asia - 11/1/18]

This medical and psychological torture would not be happening if the Australian Labor Party hadn't trafficked, indefinitely imprisoned and exiled refugees to Manus and Nauru, human rights organisations, professional associations, academics and unions didn't support "deterrence", and journalists were holding ALL responsible players to account, instead of producing a relentless stream of partisan atrocity porn.

One woman, detained at Berks for four months, told ICE that her 5-year-old daughter had diarrhea for three weeks and that the detention center’s doctor failed to provide her child with any medication or other care.

The woman asked for “adequate medication” for her daughter and for the opportunity to have her asylum case handled outside of detention.

ICE’s response: “Thank you! You may disolve [sic] your case at any time and return to your country. Please use the medical department [at Berks] in reference to health related issues.” ... Mothers in family detention: ‘We will get out alive or dead’ [Rewire - 12/8/16]

STOP protecting Bill "it is OUR policy" Shorten and START protecting refugees.

10 years since the ALP won a landslide election promising to #ENDTHEPOLICY #CLOSETHECAMPS and #FREETHEREFUGEES

7 years since Bill Shorten knifed that leader - Kevin Rudd

6 years since the ALP re-opened the camps

4 years since the ALP imprisoned refugees on Manus Island and Nauru

If you aren't criticising Shorten and the Australian Labor Party, you are complicit in perpetuating this policy.
