A Byron Bay police officer has been blasted by the police watchdog for being too violent after he baton-struck a disoriented teenager more than 15 times.

The head of the independent Law Enforcement Conduct Commission, Michael Adams, criticised the officer’s violent use of force during a hearing in Sydney yesterday.

@GraffitiExpert [3/4/18]:  First they came for the "African Gangs"

The six police officers filmed brutally beating a mentally ill disability pensioner are still working, despite an IBAC investigation into their conduct.

In September 2017, the man’s psychologist called Triple-Zero over concerns for his deteriorating mental health, a Fairfax Media investigation has revealed.

What followed was an horrific ordeal, in part filmed by officers and captured in full on the man’s CCTV camera at his Preston home in Melbourne.

The vision, obtained by Fairfax Media, shows the vulnerable man pinned down in his own front yard by the six officers.

One officer can be seen pulling out a baton and repeatedly beating him on the leg.

"You f------ idiot," another officer can be heard saying, as he punches the already helpless man in the back.

"You like that?" he says, thrusting a can of pepper spray into his face. ...

The Israel Massacre Forces [Haaretz - 1/4/18]:

... If there was any concern, it was because soldiers couldn't celebrate the seder.

By nightfall the body count had reached at least 15, all of them by live fire, with more than 750 wounded. Tanks and sharpshooters against unarmed civilians.

That's called a massacre. There’s no other word for it. ...

Comic relief was provided by the army spokesman, who announced in the evening: "A shooting attack was foiled. Two terrorists approached the fence and fired at our soldiers." This came after the 12th Palestinian fatality and who knows how many wounded.

Sharpshooters fired at hundreds of civilians but two Palestinians who dared return fire at the soldiers who were massacring them are "terrorists," their actions labeled "terror attacks" and their sentence - death. The lack of self-awareness has never sunk to such depths in the IDF.

As usual, the media lent its appalling support. After 15 deaths Or Heller on Channel 10 News declared that the most serious incident of the day had been the firing by the two Palestinians. Dan Margalit "saluted" the army.

Israel was brainwashed again and sat down to a festive meal in a spirit of self-satisfaction.

... The demand for an inquiry has however become the centerpiece of the official international response to the Israeli massacre.

These calls can be seen as cynical: they allow international officials to seem like they are taking a robust stance while avoiding any clear condemnation of Israel’s actions, as if what happened remains a mystery. ...

13-year-old Palestinian reefugee “leaves hell” of Israeli detention [Electronic Intifada - 2/4/18]:

... He was detained during a 10 December protest in Bethlehem against US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

According to Abdel Raouf, at least 10 soldiers rushed the crowd of protesters and grabbed him.

"One of the soldiers threw me to the ground, and another began beating me on my legs," he told The Electronic Intifada.

"I couldn’t walk for a month because I felt so much pain in my leg from the beating."

Following his detention, the minor was brought to an interrogation facility in Israel's Gush Etzion settlement bloc.

Like all Israeli settlements in the West Bank, Gush Etzion is illegal under international law.

Hours of interrogations with Israeli authorities followed, Abdel Raouf told The Electronic Intifada, as Israeli officials accused Abdel Raouf of throwing stones at Israeli forces during the protest.

It was five hours before his father was called and told his whereabouts.

VOLKER TURK [UNHCR]: Well, Malaysia has had a tradition of hosting refugees.

It's true they haven't signed the convention, but there are a lot of opportunities, especially when it comes to access to the labour market, to ensure that one could negotiate a certain standard of treatment for people.

Why is nobody following the money Europe spends in Greece? [Sea-Watch.org - 12/11/17]:

... What do you mean, the UNHCR does not provide people with basic needs?

Eric: I have so many stories to tell: Last winter, we had people in FlipFlops and shorts. One guy had a pink pair of tights, trying to keep warm.

And then you speak to Red Cross or UNHCR and they say: "They don’t want clothes". And you think: How is it they don’t want clothes? It‘s minus 5 degrees, it is freezing cold.

And when I offer them clothes, they come snatch it out of my hands. What’s the reality?

Philippa: One women who arrived in July lost her shoes on the way. She got to Moria, where the paths are full of gravel stone.

So she goes to the 'Eurorelief' facility and says that she has no shoes.

And they give her a piece of paper saying her clothing appointment is on the 19th of August – and that she should bring her medical papers.

Why do you have to show your medical papers to get a pair of shoes? This is supposed to be an aid organisation.

Why do they want access to your personal data to provide clothes?

Eric: We got a pair of shoes for her. But this is not the point. In winter, people had to wait for one month to get a blanket.

The actions of UNHCR and Red Cross are deliberate actions.

They are abusing refugees deliberately to stop others coming by boat.

Philippa: These are criminals. And no one is investigating. No one uncovers their criminality

I mean: Who is following the money Europe spends on the so-called refugee crisis? ...

... The boat arrived off Thailand's western coast in Krabi province early yesterday due to bad weather.

Images showed the passengers, who said they were Rohingya, being interviewed on shore and then getting back into the boat before departing.

Krabi Governor Kitibodee Pravitra confirmed that the people travelling on the boat were Rohingya but said he did not know where they had come from.

"The initial report said they were docking near Koh Lanta this morning to avoid the storm," he said, referring to an island popular with tourists.

"They want to go to Malaysia."

He said there were about 56 women, men and children on board and that the Rohingya would continue toward their destination.

He said local villagers donated food to the Rohingya and that they were "happy" with the help. ...
