What a crock. The Australian media know exactly what Aung San Suu Kyi's up to, they just won't report it.

@Arakan_Times [10/3/17]:  BROUK President's interview on Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh ...

Professor George Williams fails to mention that thanks to fascist LNP and ALP politicians, and the sham UNHCR-backed "Bali Process", Australia already effectively has a "ban".

For example, only 250 Rohingya refugees have been resettled here since 2008, and we have pushed away, imprisoned and tortured 1,000s more. --->  The impact of Australia's fanatical policies:  What "stopping the boats" means for people seeking asylum in our region [Academy of Social Sciences in Australia - 2016]:

So next time Professor Williams asks you to support his call for a Bill of Rights, tell him to GET FUCKED! ---> Australia plans indefinite detention even after sentences are served [Washington Post - 8/10/16]:

...  “Since Sept. 11 the unthinkable has not only become possible, it has become commonplace,” said George Williams, the Dean of the University of New South Wales Law School and author and editor of 34 books, including Human Rights Under the Australian Constitution, in an email.

Williams backs the change, even though he acknowledges it overturns what is regarded by many as a fundamental human right.

“It is, in the circumstances, a necessary evil,” he said. ...

How anti-refugee policy at the US border is separating families [Women's Refugee Commission/ReliefWeb - 12/3/17]:

This report documents the ways in which family separation is caused, both intentionally and unintentionally, by the U.S. government’s immigration custody and enforcement decisions.

It explains how the government’s lack of consistent mechanisms for identifying and tracking family members result in family members being detained or removed separately and often losing contact with each other.

Because the Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies currently have little policy guidance on humanitarian considerations during enforcement actions, many families are needlessly torn apart. ...

Women of colour will continue to bear the brunt of and lead the resistance to unjust immigration policy in the US [TRNN - 10/3/17]:

... KIM BROWN: Indeed. And as Donald Trump's immigration policies have come under fire for basically escalating ICE raids and deportations, you recently questioned if we would be facing the current situation if the Obama administration's record deportations faced similar broad outrage by Democrats and the left. Can you explain what you mean by that?

ERIKA ANDIOLA: Yeah, absolutely. I think that at some point we have gone through massive raids. Just remembering December of 2015 I was actually on the campaign trail with Bernie. We got a message that there were a couple of mass raids happening with Central American women and children that came here, basically, seeing asylum and seeking refuge.

Yet they were being raided and deported by a Democratic president. We tried to respond, we tried to get a lot more people to get the President to stop doing this, but it was so much harder to do it under a Democratic president.

Now, obviously, the situation is worse ...(?) the same, but it is definitely worse. But we do have a lot more awareness, right? And now it seems almost human to talk about this, now that it's not a Democratic president. And so it is what it is, that we're in this moment now.

I really hope that we learn that this is not a partisan issue; that this is not something that Democrats are better at, but that they could be better at; that we need to learn that lesson moving forward as we try to transform this country into something we actually can survive, and not what we have right now with Donald Trump. ...

An Italian band on its way to several U.S. concerts was denied entry and detained in Seattle.

In a Facebook post, the group Soviet Soviet says the three band members arrived in Seattle March 8.

No band member had visa paperwork, but instead had an ESTA document.

ESTA is the Electronic System for Travel Authorization which determines eligibility of visitors to travel in the United States without a visa.

The group claimed they were interrogated for four hours about their plans, which included a performance at SXSW in Austin.

Their first performance was with KEXP in Seattle. U.S. Customs and Border protection determined the group needed visas.

While the group was not receiving payment, it was considered a promotional trip based on the group’s Facebook post. ... [K5 - 10/3/17]

@MaxBlumenthal [12/3/17]:  The Al Qaeda linked groups behind this week's Damascus bombing are still using American made BGM 71 TOW missiles

So-called moderate rebels in Syria that have been vetted and previously armed by the U.S. government and its allies have officially partnered with al-Qaeda's rebranded local affiliate in a new organization called Tahrir al-Sham.

Among the umbrella group's members is the Bin Laden Front—named for Osama bin Laden, the late jihadist financier who oversaw the 9/11 attacks.

The Bin Laden Front is among the smaller fighting bands that helped comprise Jabhat al-Nusra, perhaps the most powerful rebel force on the ground in Syria. In 2015, al-Nusra released a 40-minute propaganda video called "The Heirs of Glory" that celebrated the 9/11 attacks.

The video confirmed the Syrian group's abiding ties to al-Qaeda's international network and its commitment to an extremist ideology.

A year later, al-Nusra rebranded as Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, insisting with little credibility that it had broken its ties to al-Qaeda's external leadership. ... [Alternet - 1/2/17]

“As far as I know Parliament has not passed a Bill either in 1015 or 2016 that can allow for the release of the funds from the Central Bank where the money is keep in trust.”
